Lidcombe's On-Call Plumbing Team

Step off the train at Lidcombe and the food alone tells you this is a rail-junction suburb built on layers of migration, Korean and Chinese dining doing steady trade near a Ukrainian church that's served the community for generations.

The John and Joseph Street pocket is the old guard. Federation and post-war double-brick and fibro homes here were plumbed with earthenware clay drainage decades before anyone thought about ground movement, and it shows every time the soil shifts.

Everything toward the station tells a newer story. Since the 2000s, apartment towers have gone up around Olympic Drive, and their plumbing fails a different way entirely, sudden flexi-hose bursts rather than slow-cracking clay.
